In order to achieve your full potential, a winning mindset is key, no matter what it is you are aiming for. Primarily, you must believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. A great book on this subject is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This breaks down the essential factors defining the mindset you must obtain. In this article however I would like to explore 5 fundamental concepts that maybe preventing you from fulfilling your potential, but the good news is that these barriers can be overcome and eliminated from your path. All you have to do is identify which of these is holding back your potential and address it.

1. Lack of Goals – The difference between people who attain meteoric levels of success and those who don’t. Is setting goals! In an apparent study of students from Harvard University, only three percent of the students asked set and wrote goals on a regular basis. When the same students were followed up 30 years later, 50 percent of the total net worth of the group was held by just three percent of the group. The lesson here – set goals and achieve them!

2. Lack of research – Don’t be blinded by your passion for a particular idea. Make sure you think rationally when making any business decisions. Don’t just head out there with a product that you think there’s a market for – there might not be. Checkout forums or ask your list to make sure.

3.
Fear of failure – In the words of Nike – “Just Do It”! As we all know – the only thing worse than failing is never trying at all. So decide what you’re going to do and try it out. When Edison was asked how many times he failed before perfecting the light bulb he answered 9,000. His advice was to fail fast, and learn from your mistakes. Great advice! Take it and just do it!

4. Information overload – Avoid this at all costs! Everyone experiences this at some point or another. I’m sure like me, you have signed up for numerous mailing lists and have perhaps bought many courses and reports over the years. You need to choose a course or strategy, make a plan and then stick to it. Once you cut through the hype and focus in on a plan, you’ve got to take action. Then you will begin to see results.

5. Procrastination – Also described as ‘analysis paralysis’, this can be a major factor in hampering progress towards your goals. “Just one more book, guide or seminar and then I’ll be ready to try it”. Sound familiar? We’ve all been there, but no matter how much knowledge you have, you will never achieving anything without trying it out. You’ll also learn much more and progress faster by getting out there.

If it is an internet business that you are starting, thenit is down to you and you alone to get started and do something about it. No matter what happens – don’t let anything get in the way of your success! Good luck!
