Music - an outlet for one's "creativity".  And, when one becomes internationally known for this talent, and uses one's popularity and influence to highlight the plight of the less-fortunate, I can only cheer them on!  And to my knowledge, many artistes in the field of music have been involved globally in their quest to make the world a better place.  Too many to mention here.  Then "why?" you ask, am I writing an article on this subject.  Well, the reason is because I had just watched a repeat of The American Music Awards of 2008 a few hours ago and among its programmes was the AMA Award of Merit given to Annie Lennox for her work and humanitarian efforts.  And obviously, this revelation has moved me deeply.

Well, many of you know who Annie Lennox is.  To me, I can still recall seeing her in an "Elvis Presley" wig, belting out "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) with David A. Stewart when they were a pop duo back in the 80's (??).  The name "Eurythmics" were well-known back then before she went "solo".  As we all know, many world-renowned singers who have won the AMA actually come from outside the US.  Well, she is no exception.  According to "Wikipedia", Annie Lennox is a Scottish musician and recording artist.  She is a recipient of many awards, ranging from the Brit Awards to the Grammy Awards as well as the Academy Awards due to the fact that her songs were included in some box-office hits.

Of her fourth solo album, "Songs Of Mass Destruction", which was recorded in Los Angeles, California and released on 1 October 2007, Lennox stated that she believed the album

consisted of "twelve strong, powerful, really emotive songs that people can connect to".  If she achieves that, she says, "I can feel proud of [it], no matter if it sells ten copies or 50 million".
Lennox described it as "a dark album, but the world is a dark place.  It's fraught, it's turbulent.  Most people's lives are underscored with dramas of all kinds:  there's ups, there's downs - the flickering candle".  She added, "Half the people are drinking or drugging themselves to numb it.  A lot of people are in pain".  It's quotes like these, which incidentally, I found in "Wikipedia" (I'm a big fan of the website, obviously - that's where I source all my movie info) that made me "want to", and certainly "need to" publish on my niche site to enable me to share such "intelligent, insightful and creative thoughts" coming from an obviously, caring and sensitive human being.

And it's with this spirit that I am inserting one of my favorite songs from my playlist on this site for your listening pleasure.  If you have been a follower of mine on this site or my alternative site/blog at AkitaWoof.com, you'd remember that I'm an "old soul" of sorts.  As such, my taste in music is usually the heart-wrenching kind.  I found this videoclip of the old ballad "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", and I bet you'll find the visuals and the haunting melody and lyrics delivered by Annie Lennox, both "artistic" as well as "creative".  There you go, another dose of "creativity" in your midst.  It's everywhere, if you know where to look for it.

Go on, click on it and ENJOY!!  I certainly did...
