This is an attempt on my part, to place 2 great artistes (in their own chosen fields) under the same article.  And why are they to be combined in 1 solitary article?  Because they are connected by 1 song.  Read on and you'll discover how.

First, let me briefly mention Vincent Van Gogh.  To the art world, he was the Dutch artist and post-impressionist painter noted for his brilliant colors and swirling brush strokes, whose "creative" work had a far-reaching influence on 20th century art.  Like most famous artists, he did not find fame during his lifetime, and not until after his death, was his work appreciated.  It can be said that today, he is being regarded as one of history's greatest painters and an important contributor to the foundations of modern art.

I have to confess that I'm no "art expert", and it was only because of the tragedy of his life and death that evoked a kind of "sadness" in me everytime I see his paintings.  It makes me wonder what he was thinking of when he painted them.

Therefore, in my further research of Vincent Van Gogh, I was pleasantly surprised to uncover some really "creative" quotations by him.  Let me share them with you.

Perhaps,
because of the sufferings he had undergone during his lifetime, many people have been "touched" by his story - of how he lived and how he died.  One such "creative" artiste, Don McLean, an American singer-songwriter, decided to pay a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh by unleashing to the world, a song aptly-named "Vincent" - a "haunting" melody of beautiful lyrics.  Certainly one of my "all-time favorites"!!

Below is a videoclip of a slideshow of Vincent Van Gogh's work set to the song "Vincent" by Don McLean.  It's part of an art and creative writing lesson plan for the patients at Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield.
