Amelia Earhart, noted American aviation pioneer went missing on July 2, 1937.  Noted in history as the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross (awarded for being the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean), her “unknown fate” after her plane went down, still makes news today.

It has been said that her celebrated life and mysterious disappearance had “spurred the imaginations of many writers and such”, thus making her a “Pop Culture” of sorts.  Her persona was depicted in Literature (in various literary works), her biography personified on screen (both in Movies and Television) and there were countless references to her in Music.  The Advertising media was also not spared.  It was cited that The Gap khaki pants ad campaign in 1993 featured Amelia Earhart’s likeness, as so did ads for Apple Computers.

I find it fascinating that some “legends” just lives on and on, and especially in this day and age, with Online “Connection, Communication and Collaboration”, one possesses endless
opportunities to obtain facts (and fiction!!) of those who have long left us, but never forgotten.

As at the time of writing (typing actually), I eagerly await another movie version of a biopic of this very famous and accomplished lady.  Aptly called “Amelia”, this movie will be portrayed by Hilary Swank, whom I’m sure will do her justice as she did in most of her past movies, notably “Boys Don’t Cry”, another fact-based movie (which I enjoyed immensely).

Until then, I leave you with a videoclip on some meaningful “Creative Quotations” from mankind’s (or should I say, womankind’s) flying ace...
