Visions of Thomas Kinkade’s “Luminist Slideshow” to the tune of “Unforgettable” and “What A Wonderful World”… man, what a treat!!  To be able to sit in the comfort of my home and be entranced by the beauty of this amazing artist’s “creative works”.

Many critics have had their share of accusing him of “commercializing” his art, like “selling his prints on the QVC home shopping network”.  But who cares?  Certainly not me!  I’m happy to be able to enjoy his paintings in video format, so much so that I’ve decided to feature one such videoclip on my “Home Page” for an undisclosed period of time, in order to enable future readers/subscribers to tune in to enjoy what current viewers are experiencing right this very moment.

For the “uninformed” (which I was until recently), Thomas Kinkade is an American painter who self-describes himself as a “Painter of Light”, a fact which is evidently obvious when one views his paintings.  The “glowing highlights” emitting from the skies behind treacherous mountains, reflected waters under a bridge and lighted windows on a dark night - features that often accompany his artwork, most likely form the basis of this self-declaration.

As can be seen in most of his paintings, set mostly in street and country scenes where high-rise buildings, stone cottages, gardens, trees, flowers, streams, mountains, wide-open skies and such are the norm, it can be said that the first thing that comes
to mind to a viewer (such as I) is “a feeling of warmth” (even when “snow” is depicted) and “a sense of home”.  I of course do not know what the “experts” feel for I can only speak for myself.  But if his intention is to reach out to the masses, specifically to the “everyday people”, then I think his mission has been accomplished.  And I for one, am immensely grateful for being on the receiving end of such artistic talent.

Like I always say:  You don’t have to be a singer to appreciate a good melody, you don’t have to be an author to enjoy a good book and you certainly don’t have to be an artist to appreciate good paintings.  And that’s what it is, really - good old-fashioned, down-to-earth paintings, by the man himself… Thomas Kinkade.  Click on the videoclip and let him transport you back to a time when life was simple and beauty found everywhere…

By the way, did I forget to mention that his “creative works” are also found in jigsaw puzzles??  Yup!!  You heard it right!!  Go hunt for it...
