Is it just me or is this year’s “American Idol” audition screenings on our television sets shorter than usual? I could still remember the previous years’ auditions going on and on and never showing any signs of ending. But then again, my “brain” seems to be malfunctioning… once again. Lol!!

Anyway, there weren’t much instances of a display of talent to relish in during the last few American cities’ auditions except for one occasion mentioned in my earlier post. Well, that is not until this last one. Yes, the one over in San Francisco, and what a surprise it was. A new “Adam Lambert” has resurfaced. Not in the “looks” department but the ear-shattering vocal range does take you back two years ago to a time when we first laid “eyes” and “ears” on “The One”.

And who are we talking about here? Well, stay tuned if you have not already guessed who I’m referring to. Heck, the whole music world knows who I’m talking about. Where have you been, mate? Lol again!!

Anyway, before I make his name “visible” on my article/blog to be followed by a videoclip (naturally), here’s what I think of this years’ entire string of city auditions – a complete let-down as far as I’m concerned. Totally lack-lustre when it comes to awe-inspiring moments. Perhaps the “powers that be” have decided to cut down on showcasing some Idol-wannabes for some reason or other? Well, that’s just my theory. But normally, those talented potentials do get enough screen time on our television sets to make headlines worldwide the very next day, online-speaking/publishing that is. So, why be different this time round?

Well, the fact that they have screened very little of the contestants’ support system (meaning their spouses, better-half’s, devoted parents, grandparents, school buddies, town buddies, work buddies, etc etc) chatting with Ryan Seacrest has certainly pleased “yours truly” because half the time (in the past years), the whole scenario irritates me to bits. Whether the scenes were “faked”
or otherwise, I’ve always thought that it was a waste of my precious “television screening time”. Yes, and I bet the whole world agrees with me!!

Okay, let’s not lose focus now. Back to James Durbin. Did I just type the name “James Durbin”? Well folks, keep this name in mind because I think we will see or should I also say “hear” more “of” him and “from” him as well. This “fauxhawked rocker” description contestant belted out “Dream On” like he literally meant it. With so much “heart and soul” put into singing, there is just no way he’s not going to cruise all the way to the “Top 12”. Yup! That’s my prediction all right. I’ve already selected my 2 favorites (remember my earlier article on Paris Tassin?). Of course there’s always those in my second level of favourites but I shall keep my thoughts to myself and see how they fare in “Hollywood Week”.

So, without further ado, click on the following videoclip which should contain both songs which he delivered during the audition, the second being a request by Steven Tyler (I think). Both were equally mesmerizing, exuding the kind of energy and vocal range that’s seldom displayed on the tube. It just knocks my socks off!! And it’s a long time coming, I say. Let’s hope he maintains this level of interest in me and the entire universe (okay, I’ve gone a little overboard here) throughout the competition.

Regardless of his “emotional” disposition and “sob story” (which doesn’t bother me in the least), I’m hopeful that he continues his journey in this season’s “American Idol” with little changes to his overall performance (perhaps only his hair and wardrobe requires a little touch-up or maybe a major overhaul, lol!!). Okay, my apologies here. I am after all a female. But the most important thing he should not lose is his “natural raw talent” when he goes into “a world of his own” when he begins to sing. And to prove it, click on the videoclip NOW!!! Listen and WEEP…….(in a good way, that is)!!!
