On this 2nd part of my post, I’d like to concentrate on Kieron Williamson’s website. Yes, he has an official website which tells you pretty much about anything you’d like to know about this artistic child prodigy whom the media had proclaimed “the next Picasso”.

Like anybody’s blog website, this one has the usual “All About Me” segment which contained two sentences at the beginning of the paragraph which immediately caught my attention. Read on and you’ll know what I mean. It goes like this:

Quote/Unquote:

“Kieron Williamson was a typical energetic toddler. He loved playing in the mud, investigating bugs, finding sticks and generally exploring the outdoors.”

Now, isn’t that like any other typical British lad not to mention the rest of the world’s male child population? The only difference is that this lovely little boy grew up to become one of the most famous artists in the modern world of “cyberspace” where talent as we know it, spreads like a wildfire… reaching out to even the most remote places in the world. If you have “web connections”, there is no possible way you’d miss out on a story of this “art genius”. Okay, enough of my gushing.

Back to his website. Another segment of interest is what is termed as “Kieron’s Scrapbook”. Here we find all the little things he’s been up to – from his painting activities, his exhibitions, his visits to different places, his collaboration with the media – yes, all the things that surround a celebrity of his nature. All this thrusted upon him at such an early age but you can’t help but feel that with such loving care and support given by his folks who I clearly think are pretty much “level-headed” parents, he would be able to handle his fame much better than some “overnight success stories” that usually spiral out of control.

One special mention in his “Scrapbook” was his visit with world-renowned artist Rolf Harris who used to have a show of his own way back when I was a kid myself. My memory did a fast rewind to the time when I was perched in front of a 10-inch TV (yes, those units were very “tiny” back then, especially if you couldn’t afford a 19 inch set!!) waiting for Rolf to come on with his programme. He was an extremely gifted artist. The speed in which he drew his pictures always amazed me. And on top of that, he was quite the “entertainer”. His “antics” always made me laugh and in spite of his funny-sounding Australian accent, he could just about “connect” with anybody even if you were to turn down the volume. His “drawings” itself would totally mesmerize you and keep you spell-bounded throughout the duration of his show. Whoops, got carried away again… back to Kieron Williamson.

Another interesting aspect of his website is what is termed as “In The Gallery”. Here you will find many “creative” works being posted for your viewing pleasure. For ordinary folks like me who have yet to own a KW “masterpiece”, I can meanwhile still have the opportunity to view his ongoing and progressive adventure in the world of “Art”. And what better way to end this post than to include 2 of the pieces showcased on his website.

I have selected 2 diversified paintings – one painted when he was 7 and the other at 8. The one produced when he was 7 was entitled “Incoming Light Last Oil Aged 7” while the other he named “Incoming Tide First Pastel Aged 8” was the result at his current age at 8. In a year’s span, the maturity in his brush strokes have been evident. Imagine the scenario 5 years from now. The world patiently awaits for more to come...
