I just love the web. That’s because I don’t have to be in another country to view a singing contest or rely on my country’s free television station to broadcast a reality show from overseas. All I have to do is set my butt down on my old leather chair, switch on my laptop and tune into the latest music news and “lo and behold”, I found one gem of a videoclip.

That’s the great thing about online technology. It brings the best the world has to offer right to your doorstep and in my case, right to my table. Lol!! Well, maybe not the best if you put him side by side next to another more talented singer like say in the current season’s “American Idol”. But he surely belongs to a unique category altogether. That’s because he duets with himself! And in both genders!!

And what am I harping about, you ask? Well, I’m referring to the recent debut of a certain talented Thai contestant in “Thailand’s Got Talent”. Be warned because from here on, I might make the mistake of typing “she” or “her” when referring to the subject in question because if you view the following videoclip, “he” certainly looks captivating enough to pass off as a beautiful lass. And he can sing too - in 2 distinctive tones, starting off in a female voice then switching to that of a male. And it sure confused
the 3 judges!! But the crowd roared on as he confidently completed the song.

His name: Nantita Khumpiramon – quite a mouthful I might add but it surely won’t be forgotten by the “cyberworld” anytime soon. That’s the beauty of videoclips. When it goes viral, you’d get your 2-minute fame extended to a longer timeframe and definitely to a wider audience.

Did I mention that he’s a transgender? You really couldn’t tell just by looking at her flicking her hair in that feminine way and tackling the song in a soft tone the way all gentle females do. The transformation was quite stunning to say the least when he switched to a male voice. Well, needless to say, he made it through to the next round. This audition would certainly make history in the music world, not only in Thailand but probably create a buzz all over the world as well. Let’s hope he advances all the way to the Finals. Might be interesting to see what he does next.
