American Idol’s “Result Night” on the Top 11 contestants to decide on which Top 10 will be proceeding to Idol’s Summer “Live Tour” ended up with the decision to keep all 11. Yes, the lucky 11 will be heading out this year due to the “Judges’ Save” being used on Casey Abrams.

So, what happened America? In just a few short weeks, you’ve turned your back on “one-of-a-kind” Casey? How fickle can you be!! One day, it’s all about loving the man and the next, it’s goodbye, adios, auf wiedersehen, arrivederci, sayonara, hasta la vista baby!!

Yes, America’s done it again. But don’t they do it to my man James Durbin or you’ll be creating the biggest upset ever in “American Idol”!!

Back to Casey. Can anyone in their wildest dreams foresee this outcome? Casey having the least votes?? Among the 11 “AI” hopefuls who had all given satisfactory and promising performances this week, I certainly can come up with a few choice names that ought to have been in the bottom 3 instead of the ones that ended up on the stools. Yes, my gal Thia Megia was also relegated to this bottom 3 placing. Although she did not impress me as much on this week’s “Motown Night”, it’s still not time for her to go yet although she just might if she continues to not “up” her overall personality soon. Though I’ll still be rooting for her, still she has to do it on her own and she definitely has to come up with the “right” song in the immediate future or else all will be lost if the support for her is pulled back and her votes start to dwindle.

Anyway, both Thia and James (both my top favorites) are still in the running and I definitely look forward to next week’s show.

Well, what more can I say about this week’s elimination night (or should I say “non-elimination” night) now that I have revealed that Casey was “saved” by the “Judges’ Save”? Just this: Let’s hope my 2 top favorites are not being neglected by the American voters since there’s no more “save” left in the season.

Casey had a melt-down of sorts when he realised that he still had the opportunity to continue in the competition. We witnessed his
singing for the “Judges’ Save” being stopped mid-way or should I say quarter-way by the judges who declared that they did not need to hear him sing as they already know who he is, indirectly confirming that they liked him enough to give him the “save”. Well, good for them. But not so good for the others, eh??

Anyway, through stutters and mumblings and crumbling to the floor or was it “steps” of the stage, Casey was an “emotional” sight to behold (in a good way). The poor guy was really, really affected by the whole thing!

Incidentally, the night was also filled with other surprises. There’s the presentation of the birthday cake for “birthday boy” Steven Tyler with legendary Stevie Wonder singing a tribute on the occasion. By the way, Steven turned 63 but he certainly doesn’t act like it (notice I didn’t say “look” like it). Lol!!

There’s also the unexpected appearance of Hulk Hogan after videoclip shots (of wrestling fan James Durbin and a few of the other “AI” contestants fooling around in their Idol Mansion in mock wrestling combat) were shown to the audience. Apparently James’ wrestling idol is Hulk Hogan so he gets to keep the t-shirt which Hulk dramatically ripped from his chest after which he proceeds to “throw” Ryan Seacrest off the stage for falsely announcing that both James Durbin and Paul McDonald were “not safe” and indicating that they might be in the bottom 3. But we know better, don’t we??

Finally, there’s glorious “Jennifer Hudson” making an appearance to sing her latest single “Where You At”. She is still way up there in voice and deliverance. Honestly, the girl can really sing!! I did not catch her performance during the time she was competing in “American Idol” due to the fact that my country did not screen the earlier seasons. Perhaps I’ll look for the videoclips that showcased her audition (if any) up to the point she was eliminated. On seeing her act and hearing her sing the very first time in the movie “Dreamgirls”, I must say that she impressed me much more than Beyonce did. Anyhow for tonight, her performance was stupendous. So, I’ll leave you with a videoclip for you to go “ooh” and “ah” and “wow”!!
