Thia and Naima - the youngest and the oldest bids you goodbye on the Idol stage... sob! sob!
Get your tissues ready if u have not yet viewed the segment on Top 11 Result Night on “American Idol”. If you are as big a fan as I was (and still am) of Thia Megia, you’re going to cry your eyes out because we will no longer be privy to anymore singing from this sweet 16-year-old (yes, she’s no longer “15”). I must admit that although it did not come as a surprise as she was not really at the top of her game lately, her delivery of “Daniel” last week was “fabulous”, to say the least. But I guess, her earlier “die-hard” fans have all deserted her. How quickly they forget. So, it’s goodbye to my gal Thia. Sob, sob!!

From the first time I saw her during her audition and throughout the various occasions she took to the stage, I was rooting for her. Checking out her bio, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that she’s had a singing stint with the likes of the great David Foster. Just like Charice who’s also of Filipino descent, both have had encounters with David. And now that Charice has finally landed a spot in the musical cum comedy TV series “Glee”, perhaps Thia Megia might go that route? If not, let’s hope that she tries again next year for “American
Idol”. I’m sure with an additional year to her belt, she’d be a little “less nervous” and a little “more confident” come 2012.

Anyhow, I still have my man James Durbin. So… go, James go!!!

Let’s now talk Naima Adedapo who was also cut this week. This super-funky lady will no longer grace our television screens come next week. Although I do enjoy her turn at “dancing” on the Idol stage, her “singing” never really took off. I could still recall way back during her audition when she first revealed a “faint-whisper-of-a-talent” quite unlike any of the other contestants, enough for her to be singled out and selected for a place in “Hollywood Week” but somehow, very little of the singing prowess she showcased earlier was evident at the later stages of the competition. This is obviously so sad because I feel that she’s got a lot more to give but we’ll no longer be at the receiving end of her voice.

A thought crossed my mind after it was announced that both of these ladies were cut. If the “Judges’ Save” was still available and had not been bestowed upon Casey Abrams the last time, I wondered if J.Lo, Steven and Randy would have used it on my girl Thia. Ah… this is no longer an option. Sigh!! Still, I wonder…
