Maybe it should be changed to “Prancing With The Stars” instead of “Dancing With The Stars”. And why do I say this? Well, 2 mishaps in a row is quite a coincidence even for one of my “favorites” Kirstie Alley, surely? And like the week before, she recovered ever so gracefully. This time, she had a teensy-weensy problem with one of her shoes. Yup! A regular “Cinderella” she’s turned out to be!!

That’s right! When the “waltz” she performed with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy positioned her on the dance floor butt down (on purpose as it’s probably part of the choreography), one of her shoes gave way and we (as the audience) saw her adjust her footwear and then gracefully got up and continued to the next phase in her dance routine.

Now that was not expected, at least not after the previous week’s little “tumble”. Ah dear Kirstie. How you “entertain” us. Even if it was planned (which it was NOT), she could not have dealt with it any better. It’s a sheer delight to see my favorite gal being “calm and collected” under such a predicament .

I must again say that Kirstie Alley is one heck of a lady – to once again remain so “cool”. I always had the impression that she loves to laugh at herself for the scrapes she gets into whether it’s on or off camera and she’s proven it once again during this week on “classical night”.

At the end of this article, do check out the videoclip which starts off with Kirstie’s rehearsal with her partner Maksim, followed by the “waltz” on “classical night” itself and ending with the judges awarding them a total score of 22 points in spite of the
“shoe fiasco”.

As for my guy Ralph Macchio, he did himself proud when he received a total score of 25 points. After last week’s critique of his awkward hand movements, Ralph worked doubly hard to prove to the judges that he could muster this little oddity. Viewing the videoclip of the rehearsal with his partner Karina Smirnoff, it can be seen that he was practising very hard to “up his game” which he managed to do so on the night itself.

Dramatically starting the dance from the ground up to the tune of “Romeo and Juliet” (Franco Zeffirelli’s most romantic theme ever), they seem to be re-enacting the popular lovers’ doomed heartbreak love story with their beautiful interpretation by way of dance as they float effortlessly around the ballroom. For a moment there, I was transported back to a time when I was watching Leonard Whiting (who played “Romeo”) and Olivia Hussey (who played “Juliet”) in the film adaptation of this very famous and unforgettable Shakespearean play. Sigh! It sure takes me back… where have all those “romantic” days gone? …and a double sigh!!

Well anyhow, after all the contestants had finished polishing the ballroom floor and all the points tallied, it’s now time for the results. Well you guessed it, I’m sure! Both my “favorites” are still safe after this round and the ones going back this week is unfortunately Sugar Ray Leonard (former boxing champ) and partner Anna Trebunskaya.

As promised, the following are the videoclips of Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley. Enjoy!!
