Yes, Casey Abrams will surely go down in “American Idol” history as the contestant who exited the show in style. And it comes to no surprise as he had indicated on many instances that he had a “heck-of-a-colorful” personality!!

We have had the pleasure of viewing his crazy antics “on” and “off” the Idol stage. Can anyone ever forget the growls he inserts into most of his performances? And all the fuss made on his hair and beard? And yes, we must not forget the time he was ousted but was promptly saved by the “Judges’ Save”. The image of a “Casey meltdown” still lingers in my memory.

He did not seem too surprised when the announcement revealed that it was time for him to go. I guess Ryan Seacrest let loose a hint when at the beginning of the night, he remarked that it was an Idol “favorite” who would be exiting the Idol stage.

In my honest “musical” opinion, I personally feel that Jacob Lusk ought to have been the one to go. Heck, he should have left weeks ago since his performance had been deteriorating of late. Unfortunately, the other more unique and better singers had exited much earlier which was a shame as we the viewers had been deprived of enjoying more screen time of those contestants’ performances.

By the way, for those who did not catch Ryan Seacrest mentioning that it was a
random reading of the votes, the fact that Scotty McCreery was left with Casey on the stage did not necessarily mean that Scotty received the 2nd least votes for the week. I guess they intended to give Scotty’s fans a heart attack of sorts. Bad Ryan, bad!!

Anyhow, even though Casey did not survive this week in spite of his fabulous stage presence during “Carole King Week”, he took it all in stride and performed “I Put A Spell On You” (as his exit song) in ways that you would never imagined. He started off by coming off stage and kissing each and every one of the judges beginning with Steven Tyler then J.Lo and finally Randy Jackson. Then he fluttered from woman to woman (in the audience), kissing each and every one of them and then proceeded back to the stage where the rest of the remaining Idol contestants were and ended with the final words from the song as he gazed upon his Idol “rumoured-sweetheart” Haley Reinhart.

I would like to end by saying that at the age of only 20, Casey Abrams is one of the most instrumentally-inclined and gifted Idol contestant. He was reported to be proficient with the following instruments: bass, guitar, piano, drums, clarinet, cello, sitar, melodica and accordion.

Here’s the videoclip of his swan-song “I Put A Spell On You”. Well Casey, you certainly did and we’ll never forget the likes of you…
