On Thursday, July 23 2009, Richard-Rogers posted a question on a website called TrainingZone, under the heading “Creative Thinking”.  The question goes like this:

Quote/Unquote:

“I am trying to find some suggestions for exercises that could be used in a finance team meeting to help promote more creative thinking.  There are two areas we need to look at:

1.  Imaginative/divergent thinking. The team needs a mindset and methodology for producing a wider range of creative alternatives, breaking from previously held assumptions and perceived constraints.

2.  Positive thinking.  How to convert a ‘problem’ seen through the lens of previously held beliefs could be turned into an opportunity (the idea of blessings in disguise!).

Any ideas (creative or otherwise!) would be most welcome.”

Within a short span, some answers came trickling in.  The suggestions ranged from checking out Edward de Bono’s website, to techniques like Reframing, Reverse Brainstorming and the 5 Why's.  There was of course, the mention of Mind Mapping (after all, where would “Creative Thinking” be without “MM”, right?), suggestions of moving the group from Convergent to Divergent Thinking, and even the idea of attending Sessions which inspire 'Out of Box Thinking', etc etc.

Will someone please ask Mr Richard-Rogers to check out my niche site at “http://www.CreativeThinkingForWomen.com”?  Just kidding!  I can do that myself but, this being such a new site, I’m not about to put myself in the position of saying that I’m an “expert” on the niche, YET!!  Give me time, and I’m sure I’ll get there… with a little help from my friends (whoops, I mean, my writers!!).

But really, I’m sure my site has enough articles that can help the gentleman in his quest for finding answers to the question he posed.  As my niche site is basically a

1-Stop Centre for “Creative Thinking”, it should already contain many articles that hold various theories, ideas on this subject from the various experts in the field.  Though the methods might differ in some ways, more often than not, they agree to some level.

I am not about to analyse or dissect all the information I’ve gathered on this niche site of mine and make a decision for anyone.  It would be like deciding which food I like best - you know, one day I might be craving for a Western dish, and the next day, an Asian cuisine.  I’d like to think of my site as a “Fusion of Creative Thinking What works for me may not work for you.  So, my thinking is this:  you have to seep yourself in the information found within the confines of this site and sort yourself out.  Keep cracking that brain of yours!  Think creatively!!  Yes!!!

Most “Creative Thinking” sites hold one brand of thinking, and they hang on to that notion alone.  Mine’s the Mix-and-Match kind.  And, you can’t go wrong with a site like this ‘cos there are so many choices given.  It’s like having a big auto showroom showcasing all the different car models from nations all around the world.  It just takes a little while for the inventory to grow, yah?

Like what I stated in my bio, I myself am a mix of East and West, Asian and European – that accounts for my way of thinking.  So, what I am is what you’ll get – a blend of anything and everything “creative”.

Incidentally, I started off this post as a “Review”, but it might eventually find its way into the “Blog” section ‘cos it sure doesn’t look like a review to me anymore!  LOL!!

But, to those readers of mine who are curious to view the outcome of Richard-Rogers’s question or for those who wish to provide him with answers, I will produce the link here:

Of 'cos, you're welcome to suggest to him to check out my niche site at http://www.CreativeThinkingForWomen.com.
