It's around 3.30 am (in my country's time zone) of a new day of a
NEW YEAR as I sit here banging away on my Toshiba laptop. And as always, while the rest of the world is fast asleep, I'm pounding away at my keyboard. In case anyone's wondering, I do suffer from the dreaded "I" word "insomnia" and coincidentally, my mind is also most "active" and "creative" around this god-forsaken hour!
So, short of having to remind everyone that we have left "2009" behind a few short hours ago and are now forging our way into
"2010", let's all start working on our "New Year Resolutions".
Well, I did say a little while back in one of my posts that I do NOT make any "NYRs" ever - never ever!! It's pretty much self-deceiving to make promises that one can't possibly keep, all for the sake of "following the tradition". I'm not trying to sound "cynical" here, but waiting for the year to end before making tons of promises for the brand new year - oh please, give me a break!!
So, regardless of it being either the beginning of a new year, or for some when nearing the end of the year, "NYRs" are simply "out" for me. I've always held the belief that when my mind is ready to convert any ideas into action, I'd just go full-steam ahead, regardless of which part of the year it is at the time.
Simply put, when I'm feeling "oh so lazy and uninspired", nothing short of a "tsunami" can move these weary bones. But when I'm "inspired", ah... nothing can stop me. Nosiree!! Unfortunately, more of the former and less of the latter. LOL!!!
However, money "talks" and in my case, it's calling out to me (real LOUD!!) to go get some. Therefore, I have
to tell myself to do something about it this year. I really ought to spring into action 'cos a girl's gotta eat. Yessiree!! No one else is gonna feed me, right??
So, call it what you like - "NYRs", whatever... I'll need to join the ranks out there to go hunt for the "big bucks".
I don't know about the rest of the world, but ME, I'll be using my "creativity" (whatever little I have, lol!!) to raise awareness of the existence of my niche site, here at "CreativeThinkingForWomen.com".
My wish this year is to put a smile on as many people as I possibly can. So, if anyone reading this would like to help me in this quest to bring a smile to more faces, then join me - tell your friends and loved ones about my niche site and get them to join as FREE subscribers so that they too can get to enjoy reading the contents therein.
And as I journey into the new year looking for more "creative" stuff to bring on board, I truly look forward to a year full of new discoveries of the "brain" kind. Yessiree!!
Lastly, to all animal-lovers out there, I end this blog post with a pix of my beloved border collie-mix,
"Akita". She bids you a
"Very Happy, Wealthy, Healthy New Year 2010!!" - woof-woof!!!
P/S: Sorry but my software is in a "tantrum" of sorts. It's not displaying Akita's pix. When I get it to work, you'll be able to see her. If you're impatient, go hunt for her yourself. I've displayed her "mugshot" a couple of times in the past - in the "teasers" of some article posts in the "Home Page". Happy Hunting!!
Doris Lim
Doris Lim, the owner of "CreativeThinkingForWomen.com", has only one thing in mind when she started this niche site, and that is to create awareness to the general public that you don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to have "creative thinking". She believes that no one should be thought of as being smarter or more creative just because one possesses a higher education. Of course, that helps a little. But, she believes that anyone can be taught to "think creatively". All one has to do is tap into that brain one has been born with and bring out the creative side. With so much knowledge and information available on the internet nowadays, it will take alot of effort, energy and time to select the best authors/writers, articles, tips and "how-to's" to come together in a creative process in this niche site and make it the "1-Stop Centre for Creative Thinking". And because Doris is a woman, this website will be dedicated to all "women", thus the name "CreativeThinkingForWomen.com" (Softly whispering... "men" are also welcome to visit).
A little bit of history about Doris. Having both an Asian and European background (Chinese and Portuguese), her thoughts are equally governed by both the East as well as the West. That accounts for her love of the English Language (she's being accused of having a British accent when she converses with Americans) and her obsession with Korean television serials (obviously, she has to make do with English subtitles). But, enough chit-chat.
Her credentials stem from her extensive years of experience working with "great minds" who "think creatively" and "act creatively". She has prepared speeches for politicians, consumer activists, assisted authors and researchers in the production of books and newsletters and also dabbled in the advertising and public relations sector.
Thus her quest now - to boldly go where no mind has gone before (no, we're not watching "Star Trek") and seek the BEST stuff out there in the "Cyber World" in order to share with her readers/subscribers, the various aspects of "Creative Thinking".
