Warning Alert!! I'm about to launch into my "rants, raves and ramblings" of "American Idol" once again. Enough of being drummed over and over again the so-called "advice", "opinions" and "criticisms" from the judges of "AI". After so many years of repetitive phrases used by them time and again, one can't help but feel a little "weary" over the spinning of the same ol' record, if you catch my drift. If you don't, never mind!!
The point I'm making is that when a successful reality show/singing competition approaches an almost decade season (1 more year to go) accompanied by the public's high expectations of the performance of its contestants as well as the remarks made by the judges, it is quite inevitable that there will be strong arguments all round regarding the show's premise. In spite of it all, I still feel that it is the "No. 1 TV Show" that's on everyone's lips when it comes on yearly. That in itself is a testimonial to its popularity and instant international recognition.
Having said that, I wish everyone (those involved in the show as well as those watching the show) would just lay off and sit back and relax. To just try and enjoy the show as it is, not "analyse" every single action, reaction, looking for excuses to clobber someone or something. Heck, people like me (the real fans) have a tough time as it is being mad about the eliminations. We don't need more people to tell us what went wrong. We can see for ourselves or more accurately, we can certainly hear for ourselves. Because it's not always about the "singing", is it??
Well, as the title suggests, the word "IDOL" speaks for itself. Having a "connection" with the American public is obviously the No. 1 priority. But of 'cos, it helps if the singing ain't bad either, yes??
So people, don't
you get it yet?? You have to be "liked" or in most cases "loved" to survive week after week on "AI". Life's not fair when our "favorites" get eliminated. But life is never fair, is it?? Anyhow, being eliminated does not determine the music career of the contestants. Having the exposure on television on a programme that has international coverage, not including an online blitz as far as blogs, comments, discussions are concerned is enough by itself to launch anyone's career, if he or she has any real talent to begin with.
And if "singing" is not being pursued, "acting" would surely be next in line as far as careers are concerned. If you watch closely, the personalities of the contestants unfold each and every week and when they do, one can't help but hope that they decide to enter the film industry so that we may still have the opportunity to see them on screen.
I for one, for the past seasons of "AI" have adored some of the contestants because they are so "likeable" in nature tho' truth be told, their singing is not quite up there with some of the others. And on the same note, I would find some contestants' singing winner-worthy but they are so "irritating" (on screen ie), you just don't want them to be the next "American Idol". Thank goodness, I'm not eligible to vote otherwise I'd find the task too daunting to accomplish.
All I can do (from my part of the world ie outside the US) is "rant, rave and ramble" on my blogs/websites, like this one. Sigh...
And finally, if any past "AI" losers come across my blog post, remember: I for one would like to catch you on the next flick - whether on film or on television. So, get cracking... find yourself a capable "agent" and knock on those "Hollywood" doors. Yessirree!!
Doris Lim
Doris Lim, the owner of "CreativeThinkingForWomen.com", has only one thing in mind when she started this niche site, and that is to create awareness to the general public that you don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to have "creative thinking". She believes that no one should be thought of as being smarter or more creative just because one possesses a higher education. Of course, that helps a little. But, she believes that anyone can be taught to "think creatively". All one has to do is tap into that brain one has been born with and bring out the creative side. With so much knowledge and information available on the internet nowadays, it will take alot of effort, energy and time to select the best authors/writers, articles, tips and "how-to's" to come together in a creative process in this niche site and make it the "1-Stop Centre for Creative Thinking". And because Doris is a woman, this website will be dedicated to all "women", thus the name "CreativeThinkingForWomen.com" (Softly whispering... "men" are also welcome to visit).
A little bit of history about Doris. Having both an Asian and European background (Chinese and Portuguese), her thoughts are equally governed by both the East as well as the West. That accounts for her love of the English Language (she's being accused of having a British accent when she converses with Americans) and her obsession with Korean television serials (obviously, she has to make do with English subtitles). But, enough chit-chat.
Her credentials stem from her extensive years of experience working with "great minds" who "think creatively" and "act creatively". She has prepared speeches for politicians, consumer activists, assisted authors and researchers in the production of books and newsletters and also dabbled in the advertising and public relations sector.
Thus her quest now - to boldly go where no mind has gone before (no, we're not watching "Star Trek") and seek the BEST stuff out there in the "Cyber World" in order to share with her readers/subscribers, the various aspects of "Creative Thinking".
